Ryan's visit to the pediatrician

So, off we went today a whole 4 blocks down to the pediatrician.  Actually, it was a nice little walk and the weather was good, a little cool, but good.  Dr V was nice enough to refer us to a nearby clinic.

Results:

The doctor doesn't think there is anything seriously wrong with Ryan... he just wasn't getting enough milk, even though he seemed satisfied at the time.  But with all the extra formula and time nazi (feeding every 3 hrs, waking him up if necessary) stuff, it seems to be working.  He was 6 lb 6 oz 2 weeks ago, 7 lb 2 oz one week ago, and today... 8 lbs 3 oz (3.73 kg)! Yippee!!  He's still a little low on the growth charts but he seems to be making up for lost time.  The pediatrician was very impressed with his progress.  So now, just a follow-up with Dr V in two weeks time, and with the pediatrician (Dr Chan) in four weeks and then hopefully, I can start cutting down on the supplementing.  Got the green light not to be a time nazi during the day as long as he doesn't go longer than 4 hours between feedings, and the pediatrician confirmed that supplementing with just plain (not with formula mix added) is okay if I have some pumped.  Great news all around.

Other stuff:

I'm looking forward to my Friday lunch with Trish (and possibly Jen).  It'll be nice to get out, and I just have to remember to bring formula along so if Ryan needs feeding, I can breastfeed at the table, and then give him his extra.  Getting reasonably proficient at the public breastfeeding thing, although I do flash people.  Oh well, they'll get over it ;-)

Saturday is the open house at Debbies so I'll be flogging the Optionelle clothes there.  Think I'll get some good sales as I'm sure Christine, Debbie and Janet will be buying, and Cheryl will be seeing things for the first time too and will likely get something.  Not to mention the actual guests coming...  Steve is working though so I'll have to bring Ryan... again, just a little preplanning will need to be done...

Sunday is Ryan's meet and greet at Trish's.  Not sure who's going to be there, but it should be a fun afternoon.  I think Steve is even going to come along so he can meet everyone too.  Hopefully Dave's sticking around and the two of them can chill in the basement or something if "all the women" get to be too much for one or both of them ;-)

Monday... hmmm, well, not a lot during the day, but I do have a "fashion show" that evening at Jackie's.  Again, Debbie, Sandy, and Janet (Hill) and maybe another friend of there's will be there and hopefully I'll get some more sales.  Would be nice to exceed the $1000 mark this month and take some pressure off for October.

Then I think I have a fairly relaxed rest of the week!!!

Christine

Might as well give this a try...

So, I thought I'd give this blog thing a try... not that my current lifestyle is all that exciting, but this could be therapeutic ;-)  That is, if I ever have much time between feeding, burping, changing and cuddling Ryan during the day... that little man is certainly keeping me on my toes!

My brain does seem to be atrophying a bit with all this milk machine stuff though!!  Not that I want to be back at GD at the moment either!  Ahh well, I'll adjust, and of course Ryan will outgrow his colic.

Guess I'll sign off for now, but post this photo of our little family first.

Cheers,

Christine
